Cassettes
Engineered Timber Roof Cassettes
Our range of pre-insulated timber roof cassettes consists of a multi layered engineered system that provides an instantly waterproof and fully structural panel with a large variety of finished soffit options. U-Values of up to 0.15W/m2K and acoustic insulation rates of up to 49dB are available while the cassette utilizes an adaptive vapour barrier to ensure that moisture is prevented from getting in to the panel.
The standard roof panels are available in widths of up to 2.4m and can be manufactured up to 18m in length. Depending on the loading and span required standard panels are between 160mm and 280mm thick while non standard, long span panels, are 400mm to 600mm thick.
Standard panels can clear span up to 7.5m between supports while non standard panels can clear span up to 10m. 18m long panels can be provided which are supported at 6m centres.
It is also possible to fix services to the underside of the roof cassettes and install framing for roof lights, sun pipes or other openings.
A huge benefit of the use of timber roof cassettes is the speed of installation. For schemes where programme is a major driver timber cassettes offer substantial time savings when compared to the installation of traditional purlin based roof systems.
In order to achieve a good level of air tightness joints between the roof cassettes and the supporting frame are fitted with air seals as standard.
With regard to fire resistance the B & K timber roof cassettes are available with fire resistances of 30, 60 and 90 minutes and can also be provided with a surface spread of flame retarding soffit if required.
Very importantly roof cassette panels provided by B & K Structures are produced using legal and sustainable sources and therefore have full chain of custody PEFC certification.
Engineered Timber Wall Cassettes
Our range of pre-insulated timber wall cassettes consists of a multi layered engineered system that provides a fully weatherproofed panel upon delivery. A choice of preinstalled exterior cladding options are available with the internal cladding generally consisting of a fire resistant panel.
Standard wall cassettes are produced up to 2.5m wide and 6m long with a thickness of 224mm plus cladding battens and exterior cladding.
200mm deep engineered timber I joists are utilized to provide the structural performance and also greatly reduce any effect of creep.

Engineered Timber Floor Cassettes
A wide variety of floor cassette panels are available, offering a great deal of flexibility.
Following a similar principle to the roof cassette solutions, floor cassettes are a multi layered construction using solid timber, timber ‘I’ beam or timber truss joists sandwiched between a top board (typically of Oriented Strand Board) and soffit board.
The various joists are customary chosen to suit the project requirements of loading, spans and necessary services voids . Similarly a variety of soffit boards are available depending on the application and fire resistance required. The quantity and quality of insulation can also be varied to achieve the desired acoustic and thermal performance.
Generally, the cassette panels are manufactured in transportable widths (up to 2.4m wide) but it is also possible to design larger panels that can be fully assembled onsite. This flexibility means that floor cassettes can adapt to suit the structural requirements of the building, avoiding compromises to the layout.
As with other offsite manufactured solutions, the key benefits of using a floor cassette system are speed of erection. The floor cassettes also provide a working platform improving site safety.
